Dreams could come true for local children this Christmas
For
every child in the world, Christmas is a special time. The dreams
of Santa, gifts under the tree and a loving family to share the festive
season with.
Children with special needs
are no different and love Christmas too, so we want to help as many
as we can and make the big day even more special.
The only way we
can achieve this is with your help. Do you have or know a child
with special needs? Please let us know so that we can make a
difference this Christmas.

Elvis night is a resounding success!
The
Elvis night raised over £500 for local children with special needs.
Thank
you to everyone involved in making this a memorable night.

A
new roof box gets the thumbs up from
Tommy and Matthew.
For Matthew (left), lots of bulky
equipment is a part of every day life. From hoists to shower
chairs, Matthew would not be able to carry on a relatively normal life
without them.
Holidays are no exception as the equipment
has to travel with him too. Unfortunately, travelling on
holiday by air is no longer an option, so a specially adapted Citroen C8
car is their only means of transportation.
Long journeys are now somewhat cramped
with equipment carefully packed around Matthew and brother Tommy
(right). At worst, it could be potentially dangerous for the
family in the event of an accident.
With the help of local fundraising, The
Southend Sunflower Trust has been able to come to their rescue by being
able to supply a 580Litre roof box to house Matthew's equipment.
Tommy said, "Because of all the equipment
we have to take on holiday, it gets really uncomfortable on long
journeys. The box looks cool and will really help".
Matthew said "The car looks like a big tortoise now!"

Supporting Children and Families with Special Needs
Fund Raising Achievements:
These have been wide and varied from garden patio etc raising over
£8,000 to help and support children and families with special
needs. Through the help and generosity of the local community the Trust
has made a difference in the lives of many families.
The
Lighthouse Child Development Centre:
The Lighthouse Child Development Centre, was opened in June 2005 by HRH
The Duchess of Gloucester GCVO.
We are proud that though our fund raising activities, we were able to
furnish the sensory unit
